PICCOLO ORDERED TO DROP HIS INVESTIGATION OF COBB

 

Western Hemisphere Division Quashes Joe Piccolo’s Investigation of June Cobb

Joe Piccolo’s discovery that the story about when Cobb went to work for Castro was false (see above page) undermined the cover story to backstop her pretext recruitment in April 1960.  This, in turn, threatened to expose her role in going to Cuba in April 1959 in a false pro-Castro role as a CIA deep penetration of Fidel’s inner sanctum.  “Accordingly,” Piccolo was ordered to stand down and the “case” was “closed.”
