JUNE COBB’S PENETRATION OF CASTRO’S INNER CIRCLE SUPPORTED BY JACK ANDERSON’S 8/12/62 WASHINGTON POST STORY
A Close Look at the Anderson Article Undermines the False CIA Story about Cobb’s Arrival in Cuba in September 1959
June Cobb told columnist Jack Anderson that she arrived in Cuba during the “still-rosy revolutionary glow of the summer of 1959. The false story that she began her work for Fidel Castro in September 1959 cannot be reconciled with her statement to Anderson. Furthermore, by September 1959 the “rosy revolutionary glow” of the Castro regime had long since disappeared due to Castro’s breaking of his promises to the Cuban people and his implementation of his so-called Agrarian Reform Program that summer. His betrayal of the revolution led to a mass exodus of moderate Cuban leaders who had supported him during the fight against the dictator Fulgencio Bastista. In fact, the rosy glow of Castro’s revolution disappeared within a month of Cobb’s true arrival with Castro at the end of April.
